CB40 into a compact Uniden PC122 the JYD aka Junk Yard Dog

Junk Yard Dog

this is the Radio that was donated by Greg Miller for this test, it was found at the tip, not knowing if the radio even worked very dirty and inside very dusty, i dusted inside but will leave the radio as is on the outside as it was found.

CB40 installed and working as it should. PLL in these is a UPD2824

Lots of work went into making this one fit, had to have a CB40 hard wired to the PCB instead of having the header pins so it would fit in the pc122 with the covers on.

CB40 / Beta Testing of the CB40 Thorn 1503 install

Thorn 1503 install

here is an old thorn 1503 i got a while back that had been butchered, had 7 switches in it 4 on the back and the 2 on the front, they used the cb/pa and the NL/B as well it was a nightmare to bring back to standard,

This had a 40ch switch in it but i wanted to use it and up grade it to the CB40 upgrade.

here are some photos as i was installing it, sorry about the birds nest of wiring, i will be installing new zip ties in it later, when i get a new Blue OLED screen.

Beta tested CB40 in to a Ferris SSB-5000

Latest firmware

When first installed only found channels from 1 7 didnt work, found out by the designer of the CB40 that we need 9 wires for the upd858 PLL due to it being a 10bit pll, problem solved with a firmware update and an ectra wire from the CB40 to pin 21 on the 858PLL..

CB40 into a Realistic TRC449 18 channel SSB, that was given to me by a mate as a parts radio, happy to say its not a parts radio anymore.

install of the CB40 as follows by the photos.

CB40A v1 & CB40A v2 / Re: Official support for CB40A
« Last post by BuNtEr on October 23, 2018, 11:17:10 AM »
23/10/2018 11:09am added default large screen and ROM enabled or disabled according to the PLL presets. You will still have to select a default channel and if manually programming it you will have to manually set Binary/BCD, NCode (PLL Offeset), large or small screen and default channel but the presets should do all that except default channel.

22/10/2018  Mod 2 - additional support for 10 bit uPD858 PLL. Found that you need 9 wires to the 858 PLL, with the 8 wires you lose channels 1 to 7, so added a 9th wire and firmware update coding for the extra wire.
